Community Health Network Foundation, which raises financial support for Community Health Network, has been awarded more than $2.4 million in grants from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA). The three grants will be used to transform Community’s current Family Medicine Residency Program (FMRP) into a Patient-Centered Medical Home (PCMH) model, increase resident enrollment and purchase medical training equipment. The PCMH model is a family physician-led approach to providing comprehensive primary care for people of all ages and medical conditions through patient care coordination. Full story >>
Community Health Network is fortunate to have the best physicians in central Indiana working to deliver the best health care possible. And, Community Health Network Foundation is fortunate many of those same physicians are working just as hard to support our fundraising goals and charitable mission.
Whether it is a gift of time, talent or treasure, it is not unusual that many Community physicians are committed to volunteering to serve those in need, or to financially support the work of our foundation. In fact, it’s that same allegiance to Community and its values that 10 years ago inspired a group of physicians to form a giving society that funds Community health initiatives.
Created to honor the medical legacy of Dr. Malcolm Wrege, one of the founding surgeons serving Community Hospital East until his untimely death in 1976, The Malcolm L. Wrege Society has endowed more than $1 million to support hospital programs. Recent significant allocations from their endowment are being used to fund a palliative care survey and the Patient Assistance Program (PAP), which provides patients financial assistance for their medications.
Wrege Society members control their fund and collectively decide which projects and causes to support. The Society is governed by three physicians who are elected by fellow members. Current committee leadership includes Kristi George, M.D. (Chair), David Felkins, M.D. and John McGoff, M.D. Annual membership in the society is a charitable gift of $1,000.
